Egg dancing was a popular game played during Spring festivities. The painting dates back to 1552!
First a chalk circle was drawn on the floor. Then, accompanied by bagpipe music, the player had to use his feet to roll an egg out of a bowl, keeping it inside the circle. Then, he had to turn the bowl upside down on top of the egg.
All this without touching the flowers, leaves or anything else and without breaking the egg!
The prize for the winner: usually a basket of eggs.
