The Capture of a French Ship by Royal Family Privateers

This painting owed its title due to the fact that each ship was named after a member of the Royal Family.
This painting probably illustrates the 10th July 1745, when Prince Frederick and the Duke commanded by Commodore James Talbot captured the french ships "Marquese d'Antin" and "Louis Erasme".
The French ships had over one million pounds aboard and when they reached Bristol, the treasure was taken to London in 45 wagons, accompanied by an armed guard and preceded by a band!
