This is a social bird, with small groups of related birds feeding together and engaging in mutual feather cleansing.It roosts in groups at night.
Its perching habits are parrot-like: it often hangs from its legs with each one gripping a different branch rather than squatting on their legs like most birds.
If holding mousebirds do not grab the tail, because the flight feathers come out so easily as to suggest that it is a sacrificial defence mechanism!

Usual maximum lenght: 1.22 metres.
Mass: 5.25 kg.
Depth range: 10–374 metres.

Habitats: Bottom dwelling; shallow sandy area; inshore or open ocean.
Food: small fish and invertebrates.

The Elephantfishes are a diverse family, with different sizes and shapes.
The smallest are just 5 centimetres (2.0 in) in adult length and the largest up to 1.5 metres (4.9 ft).
Also, its cerebellum (part of the brain) is very enlarged, with a size ratio similar to that of humans!
Finally, elephantfishes are notable for their ability to generateelectric fields that permit them to sense their environment in turbid waters.
