The KLOPSE (clubs) or Kaapse Klopse takes place on the 2nd of January. 
Participants are typically from Afrikaan speaking working class "coloured" or mixed race families who have preserved this tradition since the mid-19th century.. 


The minstrel show, or minstrelsy, was an American entertainment consisting of music, comic and variety acts and  dancing performed by white people in a blackface or, especially after the USA Civil War, black people in blackface?!
